Museum Galleries
Description:
Primary Museum exhibition gallery featuring national traveling exhibitions, changing every three to six months.
Uses:
Provides an excellent backdrop for business and social receptions and parties with a light, festive mood. Your guests have the opportunity to partake in the hands-on exhibits, which encourages conversation, interaction and a good time. Portable, temporary bars and food stations can be set up in different locations. Themes work well for various food stations arranged buffet-style. Passing hors d’ouevres also works well.

Capacity:
Varies according to changing exhibitions but usually up to 800 using all galleries.

Grand Lobby
Description:
Central, open space ideal for receptions, announcements and pre-assembly activities. The centerpiece of the Lobby is the globe from the original Pan American World Airways Seaplane base at Dinner Key in Coconut Grove, now home to Miami City Hall. Access to this space is from a large, covered porte-cochere under the painting “On the Shoulders of Giants.”
Uses:
Provides an excellent backdrop for business and social receptions, often used by groups before going into an Theater program, the Museum Galleries or a sit-down dinner in the Space Gallery. Portable, temporary bars and food stations can be set up or refreshments can be passed.

3,042 square feet
Capacity:
Up to 150 for a reception.

Theater & Multimedia
Description:
Our 243-tiered seating theater is complete with stage, control booth and backstage for theater or multimedia presentations, digital projector, wired for computer-based presentations and video conferences.
Uses:
Used for science theater presentations for the visiting public, for lectures, public forums and meetings. Especially ideal for presentations with audio-visual or computer-based enhancements. Slide projectors, overhead projectors, LCD projectors, laptop computers, microphones, VCRs and podium are available from the Museum.
Capacity/Size:
243 seats plus projectionist booth, stage and backstage. Facility and stage fully accessible.

Planetarium Dome
Description:
In addition to the Icon for the Institution, the newly refurbished Planetarium Dome, where shows are presented throughout the day, every day. Equipped with Sound, 3 Large Screen TV’s, Video and Slide Projectors.
Uses:
Star and Laser shows that will enhance any event. Ideal for meetings, Lectures, receptions and concerts under the stars.

3,370 square feet, 231 Seats

Space Gallery
Description:
Adjacent to the dome, this newly refurbished multipurpose area continues the space theme with it’s warm carpeted area that has the ability to feature video presentations on a large 25 foot Screen or 10 foot screen. With an added convenience of a back entrance for easy door to door set up.
Uses:
Meetings, Receptions, Dances, Sit-Down Dinners
Size & Capacity:
2,500 square feet will host up to 225 for a reception or 150 for a sit-down dinner.

Meeting Rooms and Party Spaces
Description:
Variable capacity for reception, classroom, party bashes and meeting room spaces can be set to your specifications whether for business or social function
Uses:
Used for classes, lectures, workshops, business lunches, seminars and parties
Size & Capacity:
Classroom A/B: 1,328 sq. ft., Classroom C/D: 565 sq. ft.

Computer Labs
The Museum has two state-of-the-art computer labs; one with 14 Windows-based desktop computers and another with 20 G4 Macintosh computers.
Videoconferencing can be set up in the Windows Lab or in a number of other locations in the building.
Small group conferences take place in the Windows Lab which is also home to our Collections Gallery and decorated with artifacts from the Museum’s pre-Columbian Collection.
Accommodating up to 14 participants with executive style seating around two tables, each table contains seven, under-desk mounted computers with T1 internet connectivity. Dual 27-inch monitors can be set up or a 60-inch projection screen can be used. Large-screen projection for bigger groups is available in the Theater, which has tiered seating for up to 235 participants, with full stage, projection, lighting and sound capabilities, fully ADA compliant.
For variable sized groups, classrooms are available to accommodate groups with catering services for meals and breaks permitted.
