Music: Access All Areas
Fall 2008
Music: Access All Areas focuses on innovative and interactive elements that explore the physics, technology, and business behind music and the music industry as a whole. This component of the exhibit includes 33 hands-on activities, props and memorabilia that are action-packed, fast-paced and fun, yet highly educational. The different areas: Rehearsing, Composing, Recording, Listening and Performing, all showcase the different areas that will provide each visitor with their own educational and musical experience.
 
 American Sabor: Latinos in U.S. Popular Music
Fall 2008
American Sabor illustrates the history of Latino music in the United States from the year 1940 to present time. This component, focuses primarily on the 5 major cities with highest concentration of Latinos: New York, Los Angeles, Miami, San Antonio and San Francisco. The historical timeline - which covers an important and tumultuous time in American culture - is presented by a "Latino" jukebox, astounding displays of authentic costumes, instruments, photographs and other memorabilia belonging to high-profile, Hispanic stars such as: Celia Cruz, Ritchie Valens, Carlos Santana, Selena, Gloria Estefan, Los Lobos, and many more.
Spring and Summer 2009
This exhibit highlights the evolution, biology and misconceptions of Megalodon, an enormous prehistoric shark that once cruised all the world's oceans. Related to the modern great white and mako sharks, Megalodon was a dominant marine predator for 15 million years before vanishing 2 million years ago. The exhibit conveys current research findings of Florida Museum paleontologists, and showcases both fossil and modern shark specimens and full-scale models from several collections. People have collected Megalodon teeth for thousands of years, and today Megalodon has near-cult status. The exhibit capitalizes on the public's fascination with fossil sharks as ambassadors for science and shark conservation. Be consumed with awe, walk away with respect!
