Unusual Ambassador: The Batchelor Falcon Bird of Prey Center at the Miami Science Museum is rehabilitating a rare visitor to the Florida skies. An injured short eared owl will be staying here for the next several weeks as it is returned to health before releasing it back to the wild. The short eared owl is an occasional visitor to Florida, but currently there are no known colonies of this majestic animal existing in the state.

Lizard Day 2008

For the 9th year, the Miami Science Museum hosted Lizard Day, a community event featuring lizards and the people who love them. People of all ages participate in celebrating all things herpetological with many bringing their pet lizard with them! Oh My! What fun to see, touch and experience several different lizard species with their owners enthusiastic about explaining every detail in the lives of their pet.
